Mr. Weide, Rail Fleet Strategist and Chief consultant for Platform3Resarch, has over 31 years' experience within the rail industry having recently retired from CSX Transportation where he worked in field operations, service design, car management, strategic planning, corporate measurements, and operations research. He has served on a number of internal consulting assignments with CSX including expert witness on rate cases, Re-engineering with Mercer Management, One Plan with Oliver Wyman and High Performance Organization with McKinsey. He is a recognized expert at
processing and analyzing enormous data sets, more specifically car and locomotive movement data reporting, aka CLM rail industry data. Enormous value is added because his data analyses are rooted in a practical understanding of railroad operations, marketing, systems, customer needs, and technology to create information that solves business problems.
Platform3Research was originally established in 2008 as a historical research and publishing vehicle for the soft drink industry and map collecting hobby where Mr. Weide has substantial interest. Since his retirement from CSX, the focus of Platform3Research has shifted more towards rail fleet strategy consulting services where he has, and is working for a number of firms as an independent consultant on a variety of rail fleet projects for a rail served and rail investor clients. His educational background includes an undergraduate degree in Business Administration with Major in Transportation/Logics, Economics and Computer Science from Iowa State University.
